On the southern slope of Beaune Mountain lies an old medieval quarry. After it closed, the site had several lives: it was home to a theater company, then a small stone dwelling in the early 20th century. The villa interacts with its immediate and distant surroundings. It weaves a link between the cliff and the valley in a rugged topography. The living spaces are enclosed by formwork stone walls made from quarry waste. A local wooden frame supports a curved grass roof and provides a quiet built space that resonates with its plant and mineral setting. Set like a retaining wall, the pool house extends the existing dry stone walls, its swimming pool completing it to offer a mirror of water in which the cliff is reflected.
